Hiring a Virtual Assistant Tips in Feb/March issue of Black Enterprise Magazine »
If you’re interested in hiring a virtual assistant, be sure to check out the February/March issue of Black Enterprise magazine, on newsstands now.
I’m featured in the magazine to discuss virtual assistance being a viable option during the current economic crunch. Here are some key benefits of using a virtual assistant and a few snippets of advice from the article.
- For about $25 to $50 an hour, companies are finding the answer to the economic crunch in virtual workers who require no health insurance, benefits, or office space.
- They typically work from their own homes– and with their own equipment – and collaborate with their clients via e-mail, video conference, instant message, phone, and fax.
- And while many people still associate virtual workers with “virtual assistants,” or VAs, today’s staffers provide a wider range of services that can include IT support and services, design work, engineering services, writing and copyediting, and the list goes on.
When hiring a virtual assistant, be sure to ask for referrals from their past and present clients, hire from a virtual staffing company/agency – as opposed to a virtual assistant working as a solopreneur.
Virtual staffing agencies have project managers who oversee and frequently provide professional development to their entire virtual assistant team(s). Often times when hiring a solopreneur virtual assistant clients are discouraged by the need to train and monitor the VA’s work themselves.
Additionally, a virtual assistant “network” is quite different from a virtual assistant staffing agency/company. Networks promote VA “solepreneurs”. Virtual assistant agencies have managers who oversee your project from conception to implementation, so that you don’t have to.
The online version of the article, by the way, is slightly different than the printed version, so buy the magazine and get even more tips. In fact, why not subscribe and get 72 percent off the news stand price.
